This platform was born from a deeply personal journey – one that began with planting trees and has evolved into planting seeds of truth. Founded by Marvin Baker, Share The Truth carries forward his lifelong mission to build purpose-led systems that uplift those often overlooked, ensuring that truth and opportunity reach everyone.

Our Roots: Planting Seeds of Change

Marvin Baker’s story started far from the tech world – in rural Africa. In 2009, while working in South Africa, he witnessed extreme poverty firsthand. He realized that deforestation and unsustainable farming were destroying both the land and the local livelihoods. Determined to make a lasting difference, Marvin returned to the UK with a vision: help communities lift themselves out of poverty by restoring their environment. He founded a not for profit, Green Earth Appeal which later became GiftTrees to put this vision into action. GiftTrees financed education and training for rural groups to grow productive forests for food, water, and income – a purpose-led system designed for those with few resources or formal education.

The results were life-changing. GiftTrees enabled communities across Africa, Asia, and the Americas to plant millions of trees while improving their own futures. In one 2017 project, for example, they funded a quarter-million trees in one of Tanzania’s poorest regions. Those trees provided jobs and nourishment for local families, and will absorb thousands of tons of CO2 each year. By 2019, Marvin’s initiatives had already planted over 1 million trees worldwide – each one a symbol of hope, renewal, and opportunity. Under Marvin’s leadership, GiftTrees grew into a global movement (aiming to plant 1 billion trees and uplift 1 million people) and by late 2022 was planting nearly 100,000 trees every month at which point Marvin handed over the baton of CEO. Having built GiftTrees into a thriving force for good, Marvin, at this stage, responsible for 4.6 million trees exited the organization in October 2024 to begin a new chapter – carrying his passion from the forests to the frontlines of information.

Purpose-Led Innovation for Everyone

Marvin’s driving belief is that talent and good ideas can come from anywhere, and that systems should be built to lift up those without traditional education or privilege. With GiftTrees, this meant empowering villagers and farmers with training, tools and support to transform their communities. With Share The Truth, Marvin is carrying that ethos into the digital age. He sees advanced AI not as a replacement for human potential, but as a force multiplier for it.

These are the people battling misinformation in health, just as Marvin once battled deforestation. By providing them with AI-driven tools, Share The Truth helps make facts viral and profitable, so that doing the right thing (sharing accurate information) also becomes the sustainable thing. It's about scaling up honesty and expertise the same way GiftTrees scaled up seedlings into forests.

It uses intelligent automation to instantly fact-check content, package it into engaging formats, and distribute it widely – magnifying the impact of each creator's voice. Marvin likes to draw parallels between reforestation and information: one tree won't change a desert, and one fact-check won't stop a conspiracy, but if you create the right system and community, small actions compound into massive impact.
